This collection of sketches is Jane Horrocks' very own (one-off) television programme! Her comedy talents shine in sketches like 'Watch with nanny', 'The old fashioned girlie show' and 'The make-over', while her mimicking talents are better than you ever can imagine when she does Cilla Black, Shirley Bassey and Marlene Dietrich, the latter two even singing (what a voice!). To describe Jane in the sketch 'The spirit of Eastenders' new words need to be invented, but for now it's gobsmackingly good. Thank you Steven for getting me this tape!
The programme doesn't put the focus too much on Jane (for some people there might be such a thing), by giving a lot of space to the guest comedians, most notably Martin Clunes. Even though some people blame comedians (and especially mimics) for being complacent and liking it too much to see their own face on telly, this is certainly not the case here; Jane Horrocks can steal the scenes by shining in the background and that's even the case in her own TV programme.
It was first broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK on Thursday 19 September 1996 and is about 40 minutes long.
Jane received a nomination for best television performance at the Royal television society awards in 1997, for this programme.
