Information about Jennifer and news about upcoming projects This section contains information about Jennifer Lien and her projects. This page contains the relatively new info, like films that are about to be released and scheduled convention appearances; like always: if you know more than what it says here, please tell me! Other pages in this section will contain older information about Jennifer's life and career, once I've written them.

In the queue It seems rather certain that Jennifer will reprise her role as Kes in an upcoming Startrek: Voyager episode. The episode is likely to be called Fury and will feature Kes getting her revenge for her destroyed youth; or something like that...

Rubbernecking is a small independent film about people in a traffic jam, their very different characters and lifes and how they relate with each other sitting in their cars. I believe it's described as an Altman-esque comedy. Reneé O'Connor plays in this film, but I also heard that Jennifer may have a part in it as well. Double reason to go and see it.

SLC Punk! is one of the films featuring Jennifer Lien that you may catch soon in your cinema. It's set in Salt Lake City, during the time of punk but not in a city of punk. In fact, the two lead characters think they are the only proper ones around. Jennifer plays Sandy, the girlfriend of one of the two. She's often billed in third or fourth place, so this looks like a proper supporting role. The film is reasonably well received, where my impression from the reviews is that it's high on style, thin on plot and very good on soundtrack. It's said to be "hilariously funny". Jennifer's character is very, very different from Kes...

SLC Punk! has already been released in Germany under the title Punk, while it also played in France at Cannes 1998 and in the US at the Sundance festival of 1999. Up there in Utah a special SLC Punk! party was held, but I don't know whether Jennifer attended. The film has been released in the US in April 1999 in a small number of cities. I've not heard of release dates in other parts of the world.

Gates of Wrath is a film I know nothing about, except that it is upcoming and has Jennifer in it. I've been told that the title is the same as a book of poetry by Allen Ginsberg, and given that he has died not that long ago and led a rather unbridled life, it is not unlikely that this is about him. It certainly fits in Jennifer's choice of films about estranged lifestyles: after punks and neo-nazis, a biopic about a beatnik poet would not be out of place. However, people on the web that keep track of all things beatnik have not heard of this one yet.

Jennifer also played in a short film called Hoofboy (18 minutes). It has been shown already at the Chicago Underground Film Festival of 1998. All I know about the plot is that it's about a guy with large feet, trying to find a woman who will still love him despite the feet. I've no idea what the chances are that anybody outside Chicago ever gets to see it. Small as it may be, it does have an official page on the web. Thanks to Sai for finding it!

Jennifer's voice can be admired in the second Lion King feature Simba's pride. She does the voice of Vitani, which I think is a minor role (but I haven't seen it). In the US this was a straight-to-video release, but I understood Disney is going to release it in the cinema in Europe. However, in the Netherlands and in the UK it has been released straight to video anyway.

People in the US can also see the Men in black animated series, for which Jennifer does the voice of "L" (or "Elle"?), an interesting regular character. For this series new episodes are still being made.

In person Jennifer does regularly attend Startrek conventions. I know of no upcoming ones at the moment, though.
